Install the Grocery Companion

Follow these steps in Chrome or Microsoft Edge. CART918 checks the connection on this page and shows repair help if anything was missed.

The browser requires your approval.A website cannot silently install an extension or press “Load unpacked” for you. These are Chrome and Edge security rules. The steps below make that required approval as short and clear as possible.

INSTALL OR UPDATE

Five steps, one unzip.

    Download Companion 1.0.20

    Save the ZIP to your Downloads folder. If CART918 Grocery Companion is already installed, remove it from the extensions page before loading the included folder.

    Extract it once

    Right-click the ZIP and choose Extract All. The extracted location must contain a folder named cart918-companion. You may open that folder in File Explorer once to confirm manifest.json is inside, then go back to its parent folder.

    Open the extensions page

    Copy the address for your browser, paste it into the browser address bar, and press Enter.

    Load the folder

    Turn on Developer mode and choose Load unpacked. In the folder-selection window, files are intentionally hidden—so not seeing manifest.json there is normal. Single-click or highlight the cart918-companion folder, then click Select Folder or Open. Do not double-click into the folder, and do not select the ZIP.

    The extension card should now say CART918 Grocery Companion and version 1.0.20.

    Refresh and check

    Return to this page and press Ctrl + R on Windows/Chromebook or Command + R on Mac. Then check the connection.

SUCCESS CHECK

You are ready when all three are true.

  • ✓The extension card shows CART918 Grocery Companion 1.0.20.
  • ✓This page says Companion connected.
  • ✓Choose stores lets you click stores individually or use Add all stores.
  • ✓Items marked “I added it” are unchecked when you return to CART918, leaving the rest ready for another store.

REPAIR HELP

If it still does not connect

The folder looks empty

That is usually the browser’s folder picker hiding files. Go back one level, highlight cart918-companion, and click Select Folder or Open.

No extension card appears

You likely selected the ZIP, Downloads, or the wrong folder. Extract again, then select the exact cart918-companion folder.

Installed but not connected

On the extensions page choose Details. Under Site access, allow www.cart918.com and cart918.com. Return here and refresh.

An error button appears

Remove every CART918 Companion entry. Download the package from this page, extract it once, and load only the included folder.

Email blocked the ZIP

Email services often block extension files. Send the public CART918 link instead, then have the person download the Companion from this official setup page.

Using a phone or tablet

The Companion does not work on phones or tablets. Use desktop Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or a Chromebook.
